Welcome to Sanguine Ashfall—a story that takes place on a planet with two suns, three moons, many realms, and a corruption system capable of turning humans into monsters.

Now let’s get started! For now, I will start broad, narrowing down on a few subjects, and future posts will dive further into each concept.

Each sun has a name:

The sun’s names are used in the naming conventions for the months in the calendar
The sun’s names are derived from the first Ganar Beast and Ketara Beast, rulers of the realms that converged and created the solar system. More under Realms

Realms

Even more important than the solar system, as realms exist well outside the universe and are the reason it exists in the first place.

Without getting into what came first, the chicken or the egg, or anything similar to the big bang theory, just know it all started with a realm called the Ganar Realm. Think of it almost like its own universe. Humans do not exist in this realm, and aura was born from this realm.

Due to some phenomenon that tugged at the space of the Ganar Realm, intangible mass broke free and formed the Ketara Realm. In this realm, D.N.A was born.

Ganar Beasts, what humans in present day Kinawa interchangeably call spiritual beasts, reside in Ganar, and resemble modern day animals, but as blue mist-like apparitions with odd appendages. Let that be 3 sets of eyes, seven tails, 2 noses, and more. Ketara Beasts are where animals descend from, lacking aura entirely and composed simply of D.N.A like those that walk Earth.

Together, through another phenomenon, pieces of each realm converged into the Bowa Realm. The Bowa Realm is where humans exist and the solar system and Kinawa reside.

That’s it in a nutshell. There are still 2 more important realms that will be discussed with many more and the concept of realms later on. Look out for those which are called the Astral Realm and Shallows Realm. Both are important for the story.

Calendar

Kinawa uses a 20-month calendar named after the movement of the planet around two suns. Each month’s name reflects which sun is being orbited and the planet’s position during that orbit.

There is no tilt to the planets axis, meaning there are no distinctive seasons. Only two months in particular are referenced as summer, discussed briefly in time.

Time

To illustrate that Kinawa is a larger planet than Earth, the time scale has been bumped up from a 24 hour clock to a 27 hour clock, as the size difference is not large.

The day/ night cycle still works on a similar scale to Earth, except during the two summer months: Kawe and Zaea. During these two months, Kinawa sits between both suns. Each sun sets at different times, creating two distinct periods of darkness every day.

Trust me, it took my brain a minute to wrap around the idea, and I’m the one that made it. Why did I stick with it if that’s the case? Because I’m too far gone, so join me in hell. But trust me, I made it so less confusing in the story itself, and all of this can be tucked into the back of the head if you really don’t care for semantics.

Aura

Every human is born naturally with aura that travels through a new anatomy system called the A.B.P system (Aura Born Properties). In advanced facilities that tend to be more upscale for wealthier clientele, aura can be used for identification purposes due to its unique biometrical data. Aura is also the body’s code for magic a human is born with.

Aura works differently than blood! Blood reacts to sickness; Aura reacts to corruption.
What causes corruption? Being naughty

Not all humans are born with magic strong or flexible enough to be classified as a sorcerer, but all humans have magic to some capacity. One example in the series is Doctor Baxter.

Corruption

• Gambling
• Drugs
• Alcoholism
• Killing
• Human Trafficking
• Lying

The “fun” part? When fully corrupted, you turn into what the world calls: Accursed.

But author, doesn’t that make your world boring?
– No.



Oh, you want a better answer than that? Fair enough.
Countries offer free cleansing. Fun night out bar hopping? Corruption ⇧. Hit a cleaning booth nearby. Corruption ⇩ Botta bing botta boom. That’s the short of it. Stay tuned if you want to learn more.

Accursed

Accursed are humans who have become fully corrupted. Shortly after turning, their appearance and power slowly begins to twist and turn. The once pure blue aura now tainted black wields a power resembling what most corrupted them. Got yourself a gambling man? Well now he’s slinging cards aimed at your throat.

There are a few exceptions to how one becomes Accursed, but 95% of the time, it’s from sinful behavior.

Tech

Some stuff matches modern day technology, some stuff incorporates aura, advanced stuff is powered using a special gem in the world. I’ll explain the basics to make it understandable when you come across it in the book, but just go in understanding you’ll see some more out there idea, and know that aura and these gems are the reason in this world this tech is feasibly possible.

Gods/ Goddesses

18 gods/ goddesses that envelope the fundamental concepts of the world. I’m not going into all of them, but I’ll list them out. Note that some are considered dual gods and some are solo. Dual just means the gods work in tandem with one another, like a balancing scale.

To spread the influence of the gods powers to Kinawa, 12 active families wield the title of lineage families, where heirs with the gods power are born. There are special rules enveloping these families, that is too much to discuss here alone.

Sorcerers

The smaller portion of the population lucky enough to have been born with aura strong enough to benefit society. Or unlucky enough, depending on who you ask. Being a sorcerer is not much of a choice either. Sorcerers also happen to fill many roles:

• Special forces
• World alliance agents
• Authoritative figures
• Mercenary work
• Government Departments
• etc.

There’s no hero work here. You have the coin, a sorcerer will lend a helping hand; otherwise, their hands are already full with work the government deems important.

Am I missing anything?

Probably, but we’ll get there eventually (hopefully). As for everything that’s listed here, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. I likely won’t touch further on the calendar, time, or other technical concepts, but expect much more to come on realms, aura, corruption, Accursed, Gods, and anything else I might have missed.
